3 day Cardiac diet- birmingham, AL hospital?


Has anyone heard about this diet plan. I heard that people can loose 6-9 pounds in 3 days and this diet is prescribed by hospital at Birmingham Alabama.

Day 1:
Breakfast:
Black coffee or tea/water
1/2 Grapefruit
1 slice toast
2 tbsps. peanut butter

Lunch:
1 can tuna
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea/water

Dinner:
2 slices any type of meat
plenty of string beans
1 cup beets
1 small apple
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea/water

Day 2:
Breakfast:
Black coffee or tea/water
1 boiled egg
1 slice toast
1 banana

Lunch:
1 cup cottage cheese
5 saltine crackers
Black coffee or tea/water

Dinner:
2 hot dogs
plenty of broccoli
1/2 cup carrots
1 banana
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea/water

Day 3:
Breakfast:
Black coffee or tea/water
5 saltine crackers
1 apple
1 slice cheddar cheese

Lunch:
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea/water

Dinner:
1 can tuna
1/2 cantaloupe
1 cup beets
plenty of cauliflower
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea/water

You MUST Follow The Rules!

Acid Alkaline Diet Simplified!

* This diet works as a chemical breakdown and is proven to work
DO NOT VARY AMOUNTS
OR MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS TO THE DIET MENU!
* You are allowed diet soda or tea with sweetener on this diet.
* Salt and pepper may be used, but no other seasoning.
* Use this diet for 3 consecutive days each week.
* After 3 days of dieting, you can eat your usual food,

But Do Not OVER Eat!!!

This diet has been making the rounds since the 1980s or before. I know because the first time I tried it I was in high school. Will you lose weight.. yes probably. But it isn’t because of some acid alkaline thing, it is because of calorie restriction. It is just a wee bit over 1000 calories a day. If you were to eat 1000 calories of low carb veggies and lean meat, you would lose even more weight. The Birmingham hospital does not endorse this diet: contrary to popular belief, this diet is not associated with UAB Health System (Heart of Health Care, Birmingham, Alabama). * The diet is not scientifically proven. At such, the long term safety and effectiveness of this diet is not known.
* If you lose weight, you can be rest assured you are losing muscle tissue and water instead of fat.
* The diet is high in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol – the main dietary culprits related to heart disease. It also is high in sodium and low in whole grains.

Real cardiac units, if they need to put someone on a super fast lose dramatic weight diet always use medical liquid diets.. Most of the teaching hospitals have their own formula, but some use products such as Optifast.

3 day…diet???


so i was thinking of eating pears and grapefruit…and lots of water for 3 days…sound like an ok diet plan?

youll just lose water weight. as soon as you start adding ‘normal’ things back into your diet, you’ll gain the weight back. also you’ll basically be starving yourself and that will just mess up your metabolism, actually making it harder for you to lose weight in the long run. count calories, get balanced meals (which will help you to feel fuller longer, and is obviously more healthy then grapefruit and water) and get outside to run or ride your bike a few miles a day.

What do you think about the 3 day diet?

5 regular saltine crackers

1 ounce cheddar cheese

1 apple

1 cup melon

1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream

In addition to its strict daily food prescription, dieters drink 4 cups of water or noncaloric drinks daily.

How It Works
By some unspecified magical force, the combination of the suggested foods included in this plan is supposed to create a unique metabolic reaction and boost fat burning.

Without an author or book, there is no documentation or explanation of how the 3 Day Diet food combinations burn fat, increase energy, cleanse the body, or lower cholesterol.

As the name suggests, the 3 Day Diet lasts only three days, though it’s said that it can be repeated indefinitely, as long as you alternate with 4-5 days of undefined "normal eating." The purpose of returning to your usual eating style is to keep your metabolism from slowing, reverting to fat-storing, starvation mode.

My mother, aunt, and sister did this. I remember my mother losing 7 pounds but I’m not sure how much my aunt or sister lost. they also worked out too though. Not excessively, but before they went to bed they spent like 10-15 minutes doing sit ups or squats.

Is it possible to do a three day diet and lose 8 lbs while still drinking all the water i want?

Also what would be more effective a 3 day crash diet or just the 3 day diet plan…dont tell me its unhealthy because i know and its a one time thing.. also no links please

A three day diet is not going to do much good, to tell you the truth. Still, to answer your first question, if you want to lose weight, the first step is to drink at least ten ten oz. glasses of water — about a gallon– during the day. This actually helps you lose water weight, and also helps you eliminate toxins and improves elimination.

The only three day crash diet that i know of that does anything except make you crazy to eat is the apple diet — you eat only apples or drink fresh apple juice made in your juicer from raw apples for three days, meanwhile, you still drink all that water. Then, right after you finish the third day of apples, you drink one/fourth cup olive oil.
